Hiking at Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve

One of the most idyllic game reserves in Gauteng, the tranquil Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve’s flora and fauna are extensive, making it a perfect spot for our next hiking trip: the Bokmakiere Day Trail of 10 km Protected content optionally).
Do bring Protected content of water and a snack. A good pair of hiking shoes is strongly advisable, a hat, jacket (if it rains) and sunblock. The trail is child-friendly. Please carry some cash for entrance fee as there is no ATM nearby.
Some of the wildlife that can be spotted in Suikerbosrand include zebra, black wildebeest, red hartebeest mountain reedbuck, common duiker, steenbok, grey duiker, baboon, oribi, blesbok, springbok, kudu, and more than Protected content species of South African birds. The flora is surprisingly varied: beautiful open grassland, wooded gorge, acacia woodland, marshland and rare Bankenveld grassland are all part of the reserve’s dense vegetation.
