In Vino Veritas Philosophy on Tap // Topic: The Unexamined Life

TOPIC: The Unexamined Life
"The unexamined life is not worth living": the words that Socrates seemingly spoke at his trial after choosing death, rather than exile.
Socrates believed that philosophy – the study of wisdom – was the most important pursuit above all else. Is this true? Could there nothing more important? Why not just enjoy life without obsessing about every single little thing?
Why should we examine our lives and the world around us?
So often, when we decide to open an eye to the news and other media, we "only" see division, conflict and tragedy. Why not just turn a blind eye to what is around us?
However, on a more personal level...
Do you usually examine your own world?
Why? And how do you do it?
Do you ever stop to examine your own life?
