La Main de Leila
A dinar the place and welcome to the Haram Cinema, the most illegal cinema of all Algeria! "
1987, Sidi Fares, a small village near Algiers.
In a garage secretly transformed into a theatre, Samir replays the biggest kisses of cinema that the state censors.
Here, there are two rules to be respected: Samir's identity must remain secret and women are forbidden. Except that one day, Leila, the daughter of the mighty Colonel Bensaada, slips into the audience and discovers the mythical history of Casablanca. A year later, Samir and Leila love each other with unconditional but forbidden love... They dream of a common future while behind them, the shadow of October 88...
At the staging, Régis Vallée, which we know mainly as an actor in the plays of Alexis Michalik ("The Bearer of Stories", "The Circle of Illusionists", "Edmond"). He signs here his first staging and it is a master stroke.
"Let me tell you the story of Samir and Leila. It is the story of a rebellion, that of Algeria, of a grain of sand. It is the story of a love greater than the greatest tales, of a keener desire than the most vivid revolts, of a youth more mature than the ripest apple trees. This is the story of Samir and Leila. " - Humphrey Bogart
