Excursion: Germans in Moscow. German settlement. (ENG)
In September, Internations is celebrating its 11th birthday!
We, Moscow Travel Group keepers would like to show our gratitude to all people behind this amazing German social networking machine and we invite you to celebrate with us during this unique excursion: Germans in Moscow, German settlement.
Discover City in the city. Straight streets and lanes, neat houses, Lutheran churches. Here, on the banks of the river Yauza, German pharmacists, gunsmiths, jewellers and other Germans lived very happily. Moscow could not do without them, but preferred that they live on the banks of the river Yauza, away from the Kremlin. The role of these settlements in Russian history is colossal. It was here that Peter I acknowledged the superiority and fell in love with European culture. If there were no Germans in the Yauza, there would not be St Petersburg in Russia. Well, if there were St Petersburg in Russia, there would be no Russia in Europe.
During our excursion we will see what remains of the German settlement: the Vandergulsts' house, the palaces of Lefort and Lestoca. Through old photographs and descriptions we will try to restore the German settlement.
The excursion is in the English language.
Price: tips only at your own discretion.
Frankly speaking, I love Germany and despite so many difficult times in our mutual history, I believe that German innovations and Russian spirit make a great pair and if we unite together - the rest of the world will only benefit:)!
