Mimì Metallurgico Ferito Nell'Onore by Lina Wertmuller
Carmelo Mardocheo leaves Sicily to come to work in our loved Turin as a metallurgical worker. Grotesque and unforgettable hilarious representation of the "true Sicilian man", the great seducer and his so-called virility and male chauvinist mentality. Carmelo, nicknamed Mimì, always strongly attracted by leftist political ideals and intolerant of the mafia who dominates unchallenged in his land, one day loses his job at the local sulfur quarry for having given his vote to the PCI candidate for mayor, instead of the one colluded and backed by the local mafia gang. Being unemployed, Mimì is therefore forced, like many other southern emigrants of that time, to leave for Turin, leaving his young wife Rosalia at home.
Nominated for Gold palm at 25° Cannes film festival.
Winner of many awards, Golden Globe, David di Donatello, Nastri d'argento.
