(Zanan-e bedun-e mardan)Women without men by S. Neshat +Zoomchat
An unmissable Masterpiece, with capital M, winner of the silver lion for best direction in Venice festival Protected content .
"This film grabbed my heart" Ang Lee, Jury President Venice.
"A visually sumptuous feast" Ali Jafar, Variety.
Film adaptation of the Protected content Parsipur novel, directed by Shirin Neshat. The director flies over the subtle female world gently as the flight of a butterfly.
The film is affected by the director's origin from the world of videomakers and has beautiful images, which follow dreamlike and symbolic paths, which are intertwined with real events, all underlined by the magnificent soundtrack by Ryūichi Sakamoto.
Fakhri, Zarin, Munis and Faezeh are four women, who come from four different social classes, but they share the dramatic moments of the political context in which they find themselves.
Four fragile flowers cut by brutality, ignorance and male arrogance, in search of a garden in which to re-flourish and be free in peace.
A film dedicated to women, but above all, a film for men, to eradicate all those wrong attitudes that customs and wrong education have instilled in us.
Because at the end, as the title of the film says, women can stay without men, but men ..... cannot be without women.
