Hi, I found a nice event which may happen only this time: Chazz (Free Jazz concert with green tea (Cha))!
This is a promotion event of Yawata city where Shokado garden is. Shojo SHOKADO is an Edo period Buddhist monk at Iwa Shimizu Hachimangu , painter, calligrapher and master of the tea ceremony ( Protected content ). Have you heard of Shokado Bento? The lunch box with crossed partitions making four small spaces is named after his last name, since he loves this style of containers at tea ceremony.
Yawata city is located in the south of Kyoto city, confluence of three rivers, Kizu, Uji, Katsura. It takes about 30 mins to drive from Tambaguchi station in Kyoto and it should take about 1-1.5 hours to ride by bicycle.
Free Concert schedule at main stage in Shokado garden:
around noon Lunch, if we find a good lunch place on the way such as Gyoza no Osho (Chinese pan-fried dumplings) etc.
at 13:05 Shinozaki Masashi quartet
at 14:10 Nakagawa Satsuki quartet
at 15:15 Randy Ingram&Matt Brewer DUO
It seems that limited numbers of green tea and Japanese sweets are served for free. If we are lucky, we can get some:)
At Shokado garden, we can see more than Protected content of bamboos and at the museum we can see some art pieces by Mr. Shokado.
400 yen to enter Shokado garden
400 yen if we go to the museum
500 yen if you need to rent a bicycle (If needed please let me know.)
Concert pamphlet (only in Japanese): Protected content
Mr. Shojo Shokado : Protected content
PS: It seems that Thomas Edison used bamboos from Yawata city to invent light bulbs...! So main theme of this event is the fusion of different cultures, jazz and green tea:)
