"Metamorphosen, TrV 290"
"Oboe Concerto in D Major"
"Intermezzo, Op. 72, TrV 246a: 4 Symphonic Interludes"
"Metamorphosen” is a piece that conductor, Mr. Iimori has been wishing to play since his trainee era under the great conductor, Wolfgang Sawallisch at Munich National Theatre where he conducted many Richard Strauss pieces. Now Mr. Iimori is the head of guest conductors at Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen in Germany.
This piece was composed since Richard was grieved at destruction of his favorite opera houses in Munich, Dresden and Vienna by air raids at the end of World War Ⅱ. During his composition, an american soldier visited and asked him to compose an Oboe Concerto. Although he declined once, after the war, he finished composing "Oboe Concerto in D Major" in three months. The soldier became an oboist in Philadelphia Orchestra later.
Oboe soloist, Ramón Ortega Quero became famous for the first time winner in forty years at the ARD International Music Competition which is known for the difficulty to win.
