Hello everyone. Let's meet on a Sunday morning and explore the shores of the Potomac. After enjoying an extra hour's sleep overnight, we'll gather at Protected content and follow Donaldson Run down to the Potomac. From there we'll follow the rugged and scenic Potomac Heritage Trail toward Roosevelt Island.

Depending on the wishes of the group, we can hike the 3 full miles to R.I. or turn around earlier to shorten the hike. The last mile or so is close to the GW Parkway, so we may want to skip it for a shorter hike or add more hiking in Donaldson Run park. The length of the hike will be Protected content , depending on the option we choose.

This is a fun and challenging hike with multiple rock-hopping stream crossings, scrambling over rocks, and walking on loose dirt and sand on a hillside. You will need sturdy shoes with a good tread and good balance to safely complete this hike. Due to the length and nature of this hike, I am rating it as moderate to strenuous.

After we will go to a local eatery TBD for a well-earned lunch. The address listed in this event Protected content is the location of the trailhead. There is plenty of parking on the street there, but I still encourage carpooling. I can take up to 4 riders from the Old Town/Braddock Road/Potomac Yard areas and at the Roosevelt Island parking lot.
