High-class remake of the famous novel by Louisa May Alcott.

The USA during the civil war between the northern and southern states: the very different sisters Meg (Emma Watson), Jo (Saoirse Ronan), Beth (Eliza Scanlen) and Amy March (Florence Pugh) live together with their caring mother Marmee (Laura Dern ) in a house in Massachusetts. Their father (Bob Odenkirk) fights against slavery in the war and the five women of the March family have to manage without him in this difficult time. Seven years later Amy travels to Paris with her rich aunt March (Meryl Streep), where she meets the attractive Laurie (Timothée Chalamet), who once lived next to the sisters and turned their heads. Meg is married with two children and Jo works as a teacher and author in New York. When Beth becomes seriously ill, the sisters return home ...
