The Moscow International Performing Arts Centre is inviting visitors to a concert by pianist Alexander Sinchuk and the Moscow City Symphony – Russian Philharmonic, conducted by Sergei Kondrashev. Sergei Rachmaninov’s piano and orchestra concertos No 2 and 3 will be performed. The gala marks the 145th anniversary of the composer’s birth.

Critics have called Rachmaninov the greatest composer of the 20th century, a pianist of genius, an outstanding conductor and “God in three persons.” Piano and orchestra concertos are a genre Rachmaninov turned to throughout his life. Concertos No 2 and 3 earned Rachmaninov deserved success and the acknowledgment of his compositions as the best Russian works of their kind, surpassed only by the concerto in B-flat minor by Tchaikovsky. Famous music critic Boris Asafyev believed it was The Third Piano Concerto that marked the formation of the “titanic piano style of Rachmaninov.”

Alexander Sinchuk, a winner of prestigious contests, has been performing in Russia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Italy and other countries.
