Don't worry - it won't look like the photo!

Try outdoor rock climbing on the historic crag of Varybobi, home of the oldest (and some of the most famous and dramatic) sport climbing routes in Athens.

Varybobi has some excellent beginner routes, allowing you to sample rock climbing on easy terrain. There are a range of grades, meaning that those of you who want a little more challenge won't be disappointed.

If you get bored on the easy stuff, we can attempt one of the big (= 40m) routes on Liagkos Petra, from the top of which you can see the whole of Athens spread out below you.

"Argh! Will I die? Is it safe?"

No, and yes. There's risk as there is with any outdoor activity, but you'll be climbing with gear designed to handle enormous amounts of force, and with a guide (or guides if I can press-gang some friends) who are experienced and take safety very seriously.

I will rent gear for you (shoes, harness) and bring it. This costs 6EUR. Pay me on the day.

Due to the logistical challenges, I can only handle six people. If the activity fills up and you're interested, send me a message and I can run another one in November.

Bring food, water (plenty), and sunscreen. Wear loose, comfortable clothing that you can move easily in. There's a short approach hike (around 10 minutes), so wear appropriate shoes.
