The Temples of Baalbeck a UNESCO-recognized Roman archeological site known as Heliopolis (City of Sun). It makes up the largest preserved corpus of Roman architecture. In Protected content , the Greeks took over and renamed Heliopolis. It became a Roman colony under Julius Caesar in 47 BC During this period it became one of the prime places of worship of the Roman Empire. With the arrival of the Arabs in 634, the town returned to its original name Baalbeck.

Chateau Ksara. Lebanon has the oldest wine cultures in the world, dating back 5,000 years when the Phoenicians first began tending vineyards. They exported their wine to ancient Egypt, Rome, Greece and Carthage; introducing the world to viticulture and enology. It is estimated that there are about 50 wineries producing approximately 9 million bottles a year. Chateau Ksara is one of the oldest Lebanese wineries produces approximately 3 million bottles annually. Its wines are exported to over 42 countries.

Domaine de Taaneyal

Property of the Jesuit fathers since Protected content . Encompasses Protected content , is a rich agricultural area with gorgeous vineyards and orchards. It has a great lake with ducks roaming in them surrounded by alleys of very tall trees and beautiful vineyards. It remains one of the rare places in Lebanon with well-conserved and much varied woodlands and wildlife. Will try their fresh sandwiches from their farm (optional).

There is ample parking or we can pick you up on our way

Our first stop will be at Chtaura for traditional breakfast where we can have saj sandwiches from their local farm produce. We will then go on a 2 hour tour to the Temples of Baalbeck. This is followed by a lunch break for traditional food in Baalbeck – sfeeha (meet pie) & ayran (yoghurt based drink). Our last stop will be wine tour and tasting at Chateau Ksara.

Cost includes transportation in comfortable bus as per programme, tour guide at Temples of Baalbeck, entrance fee at Temples of Baalbeck & Domaine de Taaneyal.

Extras: Breakfast & lunch cost starting from US$3.00. Additional US$3.00 for foreigners to enter the Temples of Baalbeck. Additional cost for premium wine tasting at Chateau Ksara. Tipping for driver.

Payment by cash on bus.
