As an author, your website is your shop front. It's the place where readers can find your books and interact with you. This workshop will give you practical tips on how to build your web presence.
Some of the topics we will cover:
Wordpress, Squarespace, Blogger – what shall I choose?
Getting a host, domain names
What do I blog about as an author? It's different for non-fiction and fiction authors.
Copyright issues – should you post your novel on your website? Images – beware! Some resources to use.

SOCIAL MEDIA FOR WRITERS
We all use social media in some form or another; usually for well, socialising. However, social media has now become essential for career development. This workshop focuses on how writers can leverage effectively on social media to build their brand and grow their professional networks.
During the workshop, the trainer will cover the following topics:
How to carry out a social media audit
Building a social media strategy
Optimising your social media accounts
Social media hacks for Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter
Social media etiquette, dos and don’ts
Come to the workshop and we will work out a social media plan for your FB, LinkedIn and Twitter accounts for best results.

SPEAKER BIO
ELIZABETH TAI is an experienced journalist who has been writing and sub-editing for a national English daily for over 15 years. When she's away from the office, Elizabeth quietly writes novels and short stories under the pseudonym Tai Weiland, which she will launch in November as an ebook on Amazon, Smashwords and other online retail outlets. Some of her published works include Malaysia Chic (co-author, as Gabrielle Low) and a children's book, Trixie Koala and Friends.

SHARMILA GANAPATHY-WALLACE is a prolific and experienced business journalist and writer with more than 15 years of experience in the Malaysian media industry. Currently a freelance business and finance writer, as well as contributor to popular tech website Digital News Asia, she has in the past worked with notable business publications such as KINIBIZ and The Edge Malaysia. She blogs about writing and the freelance writing life at Peppered Ink.com.
