Bruckner's Seventh Symphony
The symphony became a major turning point in his career and a crowd-pleasing success! It also became the first of his symphonies to be recorded.
In Bruckner's eyes, Wagner was the greatest, and in the symphony's adagio, a sad elegy sounds over this master, whom Bruckner absolutely adored.
The concert will be conducted by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra's former chief conductor and now honorary conductor, Alan Gilbert (otherwise newly appointed chief conductor of the orchestra in Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg).
