We will spend also the whole Sunday 3rd, so bring your camera, we have the opportunity to visit this beautiful city, and taking pictures to post on our event page, if you like!
Arte Fiera is the oldest fair about art and also the first sector-specific trade show on the yearly art calendar in Italy, now at its 43rd edition. The Italian fair is held at the beginning of every year, while the Chinese version (SH Contemporary Art Fair) takes place in September since Protected content , in Shanghai.
It denotes Bologna’s intention to claim its title as Italy’s “learned city” (in Italian, “città dotta”). With a wide breadth of vision, it has always been a major cultural landmark for Italian art, going beyond the globalised art circuit also in terms of the approach to the art market.
ABOUT ARTE FIERA
With the new artistic direction, the Protected content key word is “selection”. Starting from this edition, a new criterion has been introduced for exhibitor participation: galleries have been invited to present a limited selection of artists.
The aim is to put the accent on in-depth specialist presentations, with exhibitor galleries submitting focused programs. By delivering this sort of excellence, a trade show will attract a quality collector public, asserting itself on the market.
Bologna is well famous for lifestyle's quality, and for what it is able to give to visitors: enjoyment, good food and conviviality will be an all-important part of the new Arte Fiera.
The art show will have two sections: Main Section and Photography and Moving Images.
The Main Section will range from Modern to Post-war art, through to the most contemporary production. The completely revamped Photography section, now to include video works, is curated by Fantom, the platform spanning Milan and New York, founded in Protected content .
The underlying theme of the Photography section is an exploration of the various ways in which photography and imagery represent our world. All photographic and video genres, techniques and subject matter are included, with special emphasis on how they dialogue with other artistic disciplines. Around 20 galleries will show their photos this year.
Digital reconstructions, 3-D installations and unconventional supports, all have a place in a section that is not just confined to how photography and moving images present today, but what they are becoming under a constant transformation and renewal.
The Protected content aims to provide a broad overview of the best works to be found in Italian galleries, with specific focus on the production of emerging artists who use photography and video both as their media of expression and as the subject of their artistic investigation.
