West Tétényi Plateau Hiking at St Martin's Day
The programme is recommended for hikers who also love wines.
At the southern outskirts of Budapest, the Tétényi Plateau extends widely above the surrounding landscape. Its western edges drop steeply with special rock formations and are also interesting for their rich cultural heritage. The hike will take you to this land, introducing the geography and history of the area, and visiting cultural features hidden in the forest. As an extra for St Martin's Day, you will also have an opportunity to have some local wines and food. Around 12, we will stop at a local wine cellar to taste wine Protected content and have some goose soup and roast goose leg with potato. (In the case, you do not drink alcohol, please leave this opportunity open for the wine-lovers.)
Level of physical difficulty: medium, with some challenge
The route is not too long (length ca. 6km, total ascent ca. 200m), but there are some steep sections with rough, slippery surfaces. The programme is therefore recommended for regular hikers.
Scheduled return: arriving back to Budapest between 5 to 7 pm
- Wear boots or proper shoes for hiking.
- This is an all-weather programme.
- Since lunch must be pre-ordered, please register only if you are sure you can come.
