West Börzsöny Hills Ridge Hike
Due to the long steep slopes and relatively high total ascent, this hike is recommended for regular hikers.
The ridgeline hike along the western edge of Börzsöny Hills is one of the most spectacular ones in Hungary. The area is characterised with dense forests, where the path takes along the ridge, passing special rock features, and occasionally providing scenic views towards the surrounding landscapes. At the end of the hike, the path arrives to the pretty historic village of Nagybörzsöny where there will be an opportunity to have a well deserved dinner at the local restaurant. Although the travel to the location takes almost 2 hours, it really worth the time and efforts!
Level of physical difficulty: challenging
Although the hike is not long, the total ascent, the long and steep uphill and downhill sections and rough path surfaces make it a challenging one. Nevertheless, the unique route rewards the effort!
Scheduled return: arriving back to Budapest either around 8 or 9 pm. (Train and coach will be used to access and return from the location. The hike arrives to a village different from the starting point.)
- Wear boots or proper shoes for hiking.
- Bring plenty of drink and lunch pack with you.
- There will be no toilet facilities available during the hike
If the weather would be hot, I might change the programme.
