On 16 and 17 May Protected content , for the first time ever, Nexo Digital offers in the Italian cinemas An American in Paris, the Broadway musical already winner of the Tony® Award. A musical that proved to be the most acclaimed show of the year, with standing ovation of the audience and a record of 28 five-star reviews by critics from the UK.
This version of An American in Paris - The Musical was presented for the first time in Protected content the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, welcomed by ecstatic reviews, and then moved to the Broadway Palace Theater, where she became the most awarded musical of the Protected content season, winning four Tony® Awards. At the moment a tour is in progress in North America and a new production is scheduled in Tokyo in January Protected content .
An American in Paris - The Musical is directed and choreographed by the British Christopher Wheeldon, winner of the Protected content Award for Best Choreographer, artistic associate at the Royal Ballet, awarded an OBE to the New Year's Honors Protected content interest promotion services and of the reputation of British classical and theatrical dance all over the world '. Inspired by the Oscar®-winning film, An American in Paris tells the passionate story of the discovery of love in the post-war "Ville Lumière", narrated on the music of George and Ira Gershwin (including the classic 'S Wonderful and I Got Rhythm) and on and the texts of Craig Lucas' book.
After World War II, two American neighbors were found, in a Paris suddenly overflowing with hope and possibility: Jerry Mulligan is trying to become a painter, while Adam plays the piano. The duo, reinforced by Henri, a French singer who is a great friend of Adam, performs some numbers in the café below. Around this trio, and the meeting of Jerry with Lise, a beautiful young dancer, develops a surprising story of love, art and friendship, which has the Parisian streets as a backdrop.
The first New York City Ballet dancer Robert Fairchild, who plays Jerry Mulligan, and Royal Ballet dancer Leanne Cope in the role of Lise Dassin shine in the musical. At their side, a company of over 50 actors, dancers and musicians.
In An American in Paris - The Musical set design and costumes were conceived by West End and Broadway designers Bob Crowley (The Audience; Mary Poppins); the screenings are those of the famous British designers of 59 Productions (authors of War Horse, and of the opening ceremony of the London Olympic Games in Protected content , with lights by Natasha Katz and sound effects by Jon Weston.
The soundtrack is adapted, arranged and supervised by Rob Fisher with orchestrations by Christopher Austin and Bill Elliott, Sam Davis's dance arrangements, Todd Ellison's musical supervision and John Rigby's musical direction.
An American in Paris - The Musical was produced in London by Stuart Oken, Van Kaplan, Roy Furman, Michael McCabe and Joshua Andrews on special accord with Elephant Eye Theatrical, Pittsburgh CLO and Théâtre du Châtelet, acquired by Trafalgar Releasing and distributed in cinemas Italians from Nexo Digital with the Radio DEEJAY,, British Council, Dance & Danza and Sipario media partners.
