Come and Celebrate "Chandeleur" with Us !
This celebration has a religious origin. In fact, it is celebrated every year 40 days after Christmas, the day of the presentation of the child Jesus in the Temple. The name “Chandeleur” originates from the “candles”, traditionally used on this occasion. In churches, they are blessed and replace the torches. They are kept lit to signify light, purity and drive away evil. The faithful people often bring one home and display it at their window on February 2.
The round shape and golden color of the pancakes represented the solar disk and the return to light. Indeed, at the beginning of February, the days are gradually starting to lengthen. The consumption of pancakes would therefore be a tribute to the season cycle and more precisely to the arrival of Spring which announces better days.
We will celebrate Chandeleur a little late but it will be an opportunity to exchange together and enjoy delicious pancakes !!
