Carl Schuch and France [Exhibition]
Carl Schuch is one of the most significant austrian realism painters of the 19th century. 70 of his works are exhibited at Städel, presented in a stimulating dialogue with art pieces by French artists like Cézanne, Corot, Courbet, Manet and Monet.
The exhibition focuses on Schuch’s years in Paris, where he experienced his most artistically formative period.
His work is characterized by subtle colour nuances, an extraordinary sensitivity to light and atmosphere, and an intense search for artistic truthfulness.
