Wild Foods Truffle Hunt

Your Wild Foods Truffle Hunting adventure starts from our mountain village of Pettino in Umbria, nestled among the beautiful rolling hills and valleys of our farm, where our family have been hunting truffles for generations unknown. With our expert truffle hunter we comb the truffle-rich forests and pastures, following his highly trained dogs as they hunt.

There are amazing views to be had in every direction as we stroll the countryside. When we have enough truffles for lunch, we stop in a really panoramic spot and have your first taste of a freshly dug truffle and a glass or two of Prosecco. More often than not, our shepherd, the flock of sheep and our wolf-chasing dogs come join us for some company, a drink and a chat.

Then back at the village you’ll discover some of the secrets of our family’s culinary tradition. Francesca accompanies us to the pasta room where you can learn to make the traditional fresh pasta of the village. You can join in and lend a hand, or simply sit back, watch and enjoy an assortment of home-made specialties such as truffle bruschetta, capocollo and our own pecorino cheese – and loads of great local wine.

Then we sit down to a big traditional Umbrian mountain lunch where all our recipes have a ‘wild’ flavor: maybe wild boar stew, roast guinea fowl, stuffed duck or rabbit. Family and friends from the village join us for a relaxing, fun and totally authentic lunch.

Depart for Spoleto in time for the 4:56pm train to Rome
