TOPIC of DISCUSSION for this event: the TED talk “3 Kinds of Bias that Shape Your Worldview”.

“What shapes our perceptions (and misperceptions) about science? In an eye-opening talk, meteorologist J. Marshall Shepherd explains how confirmation bias, the Dunning-Kruger effect and cognitive dissonance impact what we think we know -- and shares ideas for how we can replace them with something much more powerful: knowledge.” —- TED

REQUIREMENT: You will need to watch the TED talk beforehand so that you are familiar with the subject matter we will be discussing.

This is a DISCUSSION SERIES about different topics from different areas of life and, of course, from all over the world. Over time we will cover all kinds of topics.

RULES of the event: Please come with the idea in mind that we will be discussing about the above topic over drinks or dinner. You don’t have to make any special preparation. Just come by and let us know what you think. In a respectful manner.

As we begin discussing different topics, keep in mind that each of your arguments should be convincing. Try not to just bring out points, but actually speak in-depth and give reasons as to why you feel the way you do. You might get nervous, but remember that people are genuinely interested in what you have to say.

See you there! Happy discussion!
