Dinner Drinks and Mingling – *Quirky Quebec!*
Ok, so it’s not exactly a fully fledged country, but Quebec has a strong national identity and has been officially declared “a nation within a united Canada”… whatever that means. A complex and beautiful region steeped in history and tradition, it is also acclaimed on the international stage for its cuisine, rooted in French and Irish as the main heritage groups and evolving as comfort food to combat the cold climate.
One of the oldest of Québécois culinary traditions is the “temps des sucres” (sugar season) during the Springtime, when numerous “sugar shacks” (cabanes à sucre) open their doors for a hearty banquet involving eggs, ham, bacon, fèves au lard (baked beans) and toutiere (meat pie) all smothered in maple syrup and washed down with gallons of beer. We will enjoy a similar celebration for our Q dinner, a feast of typical dishes freshly prepared by our very own Canadian chef (known for his flamboyant flambée antics at some of our previous dinners) with free flowing drinks and fun times in a cosy setting!
