David Peña Dorantes leads students into his world of free jazz flamenco. A unique occasion for both beginners and advanced pianists who want to get a totally new experience. The workshop is open to anyone. Followed by the CD presentation of the Spanish pianist for the general public.

Dorantes (born in Lebrija, Protected content be considered the patriarch of modern flamenco piano. Despite some precedents in the mid-20th century, this discipline had never met with any such impact or evolution before. By the appearance of ‘Orobroy’ in Protected content modern era for this instrument in flamenco undoubtedly started. Dorantes is a multi-instrumentalist and pure-blood artist (he belongs to one of the oldest flamenco gitano lineage: Los Peñas - Perrate - Pinini - Bacán), who has been recognised for being the first one in totally distancing the guitar in flamenco piano compositions and in not making use of established harmonies. Dorantes has set trends.
Accompanied by the skilled percussionist Javi Ruibal, tonight Dorantes will play compositions from his brand new CD ‘El Tiempo por Testigo’, where North African influences are interchanged with flamenco and passionate jazz.
