Cai Guo-Qiang at the Prado. The Spirit of Painting
Cai Guo-Qiang (born Quanzhou, China, Protected content one of the most internationally acclaimed artists of recent decades. He was visual director and director of special effects for the Beijing Olympic Games while in recent years he has returned to painting, currently exploring the use of gunpowder as a pictorial material.
The exhibition now on display at the Museum features works created with burnt gunpowder on canvas in which the artist reflects on the qualities that define the art of his predecessors.
