Essencial Killing
Written and directed by Jerzy Skolimowski for a solo role by Vincent Gallo, or almost. He plays a man captured by the US army in Afghanistan and sent somewhere to Eastern Europe who manages to escape on the journey. ESSENTIAL KILLING is a film about a white landscape of snow, ice, a solitary, silent escape, an experience of survival facing the limits. “It is a film about the reduction of man to animality, that is, about the reduction of man to his essence. In other words, a film about ‘what needs to be done’, in the most primordial sense that the expression can have.” (Luís Miguel Oliveira)
