Opera. Passion, Power and Politics
Focusing on eight premieres in eight European cities, this landmark exhibition tells the vivid story of opera from its origins in late Renaissance Italy to the present day in an immersive experience with more than Protected content from 25 museums, collections and international archives. Using the latest multimedia technology the exhibition explains the evolution of this exciting art form.
The journey begins in Protected content the Venice of Claudio Monteverdi, with the premiere of L’incoronazione di Poppea; follows in the Protected content and the premiere of Rinaldo by Georg Friedrich Händel; continues with the presentation of Le nozze di Figaro by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in Vienna in Protected content , and arrives to the premiere of Nabucco by Giuseppe Verdi in Milan in Protected content . The journey continues in Paris that shows the premiere of Tannhäuser by Richard Wagner in Protected content connects it with Barcelona of Protected content the premiere of Pepita Jiménez by Isaac Albéniz. The journey then takes us to Dresden of Protected content Salomé by Richard Strauss to end in Leningrad of Dmitri Shostakovich with the premiere of Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk in Protected content .
More than Protected content from 25 museums, collections and international archives will show you the evolution of this art form. The visitor will also have the opportunity to stroll around the urban Europe of the last Protected content with the music taking the spotlight of this show and a unique individual experience.
