Igor Levit can be hypnotic. I want to try this Shostakovith. Will be a discovery for me as well.
The German-Russian pianist Igor Levit enjoys coming to Bozar, and, in fact, chose the new concert grand piano a few years ago. Proof that he does not shy away from a challenge came in the seaons Protected content he dazzled the audience with his gripping renditions of Beethoven's complete piano sonatas. On the occasion of the Shostakovich festival, he will perform the Russian composer's Preludes and Fugues. Modelled on Bach's Wohltemperierte Klavier, he puts his musical language to the test in a cycle of 24 contrasting miniatures. Be prepared for an intense 2.5 hour adventure that straddles both melancholy and anxiety, sadness and razor-sharp irony.
