Takis Veremis and Thodoris Xenos met in New York in the mid 80's, during the era of expressionist punk rock. One was studying economics & cinema and the other was working on Wall Street. After many years, the two friends met again at the opening of Mark Hadjipatera's exhibition. Thus arose a new artistic collaboration, with the exhibition "Shelters".

Veremis, producer and cinematographer, rediscovered the magic of photography in his recent solo walks at sea. Xenos now works as a photographer. Two different sensitive glances in a slightly subversive exhibition, beyond the strict "clichés" of a gallery. Looking at their photos, one notices two different approaches.

Xenos photographs urban houses, or places that are degenerate and abandoned, without function, without human presence. It converses with the space sometimes in a strict Doric form and sometimes in an exaggerated "Gothic" architecture, always with the use of color. On the contrary, Takis Veremis has a strong human presence and the elements of nature. Photos in black and white, approaches in real time with natural light. The play of light on the sea or on the wet windshield creates illusions and gives another content to the image.

A video with their photos, edited by Veremis, with music and voice-off / recitation, excerpts by Dante Alighieri and T.S. Eliott, frames the exhibition.

After the exhibition we can have a refreshment to one of the shops in the area.
