Kuratorenführung Sammlung Goetz Farb/Raum/Körper
The exhibition in the Goetz Collection includes four artists, with Gotthard Graubner, Imi Knoebel, Blinky Palermo and Reiner Ruthenbeck, exploring the possibilities of design in non-representational art in a very different way. Through her connections to the Düsseldorf Academy, her work is characterized by the joy of the experiment and the spirit of rebellion that prevailed at this prestigious art college in the Protected content and Protected content .
Gotthard Graubner ( Protected content ), the oldest artist in this exhibition, was associated with the Düsseldorf Academy as a student as well as a professor. He was known for his non-representational atmospheric paintings on dense fabric, which developed a physical spatiality through the application of different color layers. "Farbraumkörper" has named these objects since the Protected content . The term is also the title of the current exhibition, as it relates to the relationship between space, form and color with which the artists Knoebel, Palermo and Ruthenbeck also concern themselves in their work.
Knoebel (* Protected content abstract painting with industrial materiality and color. Through the serial mode of operation he tests the possibilities of a minimalistic visual language. Palermo ( Protected content ) pursued a conceptual approach in the confrontation with Malevich, which he pursued not only in his three-dimensional pictorial objects, but also in the expansion of painting into the real exhibition space. The sculptor Reiner Ruthenbeck ( Protected content ) investigated the physical properties of the material in his abstract objects and installations and created exciting contrasts through the use of opposites.
The large-scale show "When now is minimal" has already shown that the Goetz collection has a large number of minimalist positions. The exhibition "FarbKörperRaum" presents a further aspect from this collection area in the counter-exhibition with 70 works by these four older artist personalities from the field of the Düsseldorf Art
