This Thursday, there is the following special event:
Kiki Smith - Michael Riessler "Aglaope - Parley for the Birds"

Over the years, Kiki Smith has created countless dead birds, dedicating many of the works to dying species, thereby extending our gaze beyond the perception of the human body: How should humans think in relation to other beings? What does the loss of the habitat of animals and plants mean? With Untitled (Crows), the artist creates a monument to a group of crows in New Jersey, which fell dead from the sky after having been poisoned by pesticides. The exhibition in Haus der Kunst presents the crows in bronze, black and lifeless and scattered on the floor, witness to an ecological disaster.

The composer and bass clarinetist Michael Riessler improvises in this room on his instrument, reworking his piece “Aglaope,” a composition for orchestra, choir and soloists with voices of dying birds (commissioned by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, premiere Protected content , transformed in the Studio for Acoustic Art, WDR, and released as a CD by the Louisiana Museum, Humblebaek.
