PIANO PROJECT: Variations, jazz and folk music

RESERVE HERE: Protected content
Throughout its history, the practice of improvisation has been central to musical composition. The most prominent composers from the 17th century onward were expert improvisers with J.S. Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven being the most stellar examples. Their variations inspired the Romantics and later transformed into the jazz culture of the 20th century often with reference to idiomatic folk tunes across the globe.
