Hanami ("flower viewing") is the Japanese traditional custom of enjoying the transient beauty of flowers.
Let's get together to see the amazing orchids festival at Kew and enjoy the colourful floral displays, including a bright Vanda tunnel and arches decorated with orchids.
There is an entry fee toProtected content which you can all buy individually in advance at Kew's website or on the day at the arrival gate, but there is no additional charge for the Orchids Festival.
We will meet at theProtected content This conservatory is nice and warm so if it is cold outside we will warm up whilst viewing the orchids. After this we can make our way to see the Shirley Sherwood Gallery to see the Life in Death exhibition, showcasing Protected content and flowers, dried and preserved over a six year period. The most intricate large-scale artwork to date from artist Rebecca Louise Law.
There will also be an opportunity to visit the hive and/or the palm house if anyone would like to also see this.
After the visit we can perhaps all gather and have a warm tea / snacks /refreshments either at Protected content cafe/food street market or perhaps somewhere nearby.
Get ready for an overdose of flowers!!
Hope to see many of you there :)
