Japanese Modern Dance - SABURO TESHIGAWARA: WALTZ
The UK premiere of Waltz – a deeply moving duet from Japanese master choreographer Saburo Teshigawara and artistic collaborator Rihoko Sato.
Waltz is a dynamic perspective on his own life: “I find I see my life through both ends of a telescope – with memory, experience and an imagined future sometimes magnified, and sometimes distant.”
Teshigawara harnesses the three-beat tempo of waltzes from many countries and eras to evoke the dancers’ interior rhythm, heartbeat and breathing.
Waltz communicates on a spiritual level, connecting the audience and performers with their own memories and consciousness.
