Bach - Discussion Concert
Dear Friends
A concert and talk with BachWerkVokal from Austria and the Author Meinolf Brüser presenting Bach's work with a new view based on Meinolf Brüser's book: Wenn Bach trauert (When Bach mourns). Unfortunatly, its in German.
When musicological research of Johann Sebastian Bach in Protected content changes our understanding of his music and the image we have had of this composer up to now, it is tantamount to a sensation. This is exactly what Meinolf Brüser (Berlin) achieved with his book "Wenn Bach trauert", which was published by Bärenreiter in Protected content . His major research work on the Bach motets refutes almost all the theories put forward to date and proves that these are very personal pieces of funeral music that Bach composed for family members, friends or pupils. In other words, these are entirely intimate works that Bach wrote as a form of personal mourning. When you know about these stories, you hear this music with new ears. The discussion concert brings research and music together in one room.
For more information, please see: Protected content
The box office opens at 17:30 on the day of the concert.
At 6pm Meinolf Büser is presenting the findings of his research in an artist talk.
I recommend to visit both and hope to see you there.
