Awesome Colombian music band @ Artscape
Come see some awesome Colombian music in Baltimore, a rare opportunity! As part of Artscape, the band DeSanguashington will perform for an hour at Protected content
DeSanguashington’s curious band name is a play in words stemming from the name of the most important traditional “Gaita music” ensemble in Colombia since the mid Protected content , “Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto.” The younger Gaiteros de SanGuashington, however, play a broader range of Colombian and world music than the older Gaiteros, and use a more modern mix of instruments.
The gaita is Spanish for the “kuisi”, a Native American duct flute, Protected content long, that has remained in use, among other places, in the Colombian Caribbean region, played commonly alongside drums (of African Descent) and accordion (of European descent).
We’ll be hanging out nearby starting an hour before the show (location TBD). Your friendly neighborhood Colombian (yours truly) will provide tastes (or more if requested) of chilled Aguardiente, traditional Colombian liquor, to help you beat the heat and get in a jolly mood for the show.
Show is from 2pm to 3pm at the event address listed for this activity.
I will update the “meeting point” of this activity with the location to meet before the show.
