2ND Volunteers' Pet Care Program at SPCA Selangor
Dear KL Changemakers,
We're organising our 2nd Volunteer Pet Care Programme at the E.R.A Centre @ SPCA Selangor. Kids are welcomed, so bring them along if you would like to make this a fun and engaging weekend family activity!
SPCA Selangor (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is located in Ampang. They welcome volunteers from all walks of life and of all ages to either assist with the animals directly or to work with their Marketing & Communications Dept. on various tasks.
Volunteers who would like to help out with the animals are required to participate in their Pet Care Programme (PCP), as SPCA Selangor has several safety precautions and operational procedures that they require all volunteers to learn.
The PCP is an introduction to the SPCA. It is a one-time, hands-on workshop that combines volunteering works with education on responsible pet care and animal handling. Topics covered include understanding animals, keeping pets happy and healthy, pet body language, etc. (PLUS playing with cats & dogs for all you animal lovers who are starving for some puppy love / kitty cuddles / general furry company!).
After completing the PCP, you may continue to return and volunteer at your own time. The PCP can accommodate for community service/CSR needs, as SPCA Selangor hopes to encourage their volunteers to be active agents of change in their communities.

NOTE #1 : There is a fee of RM120.00* per person (working adult). The full amount will go towards SPCA Selangor's donation to fund the operation of the animal shelter. SPCA Selangor is an NGO non-profit that receives no government funding and reliant solely on public donations. Junior fee is RM60 and their session will end earlier at 12:30PM.
* Participants will receive a certificate of achievement and SPCA volunteer t-shirt after completion.
* Due to LIMITED PARTICIPANT SLOTS AVAILABLE, confirmation of your slot is via payment. I will PM you the details when you RSVP to the guest list.
* SPCA Selangor will issue you a tax-exempt receipt for the payment on the event day itself.
NOTE #2 : The PCP involves volunteering activities around their in-house animals, both cats and dogs. For Muslim volunteers, they have especially prepared 'Taharah' soap for your samak ablution purposes. Taharah is a clay-based soap approved by JAKIM for your samak needs. They can demonstrate the proper procedure if needed. With this, SPCA encourages full participation in all activities for a more enriching and educational experience.
NOTE #3 : For those who have attended the PCP Programme before but would like to join in on this activity, you are welcomed to volunteer again without paying the participation fee as you are not required to go through the programme again. You can immediately help out with other periphery work that need attending.
