Hello Volunteers,

We are preparing for fall with a family friendly Oktoberfest!

Oktoberfest event with the Bonames Refugee Center! The purpose of this event is to share German culture with the refugees. This is a family-friendly event, so feel free to invite yours! Also, if you have friends or newcomers who are interested in volunteering--this would be a great introductory event.

The event will consist of two parts, a bike ride that leaves from the Bonames center and follows a path along the Nidda River, and end back at the center. After the bike ride event there will be a barbecue at the center. You can come for one event or for all.

We will be providing hamburgers and asking our volunteers to donate sides and desserts. PLEASE CONTACT ME DIRECTLY OR IN COMMENT SECTION, LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT TO PREPARE A SIDE DISH OR PURCHASE ONE.

Also, during the event we will be conducting activities for the children. The schedule for the event will be as follows:

11:00 AM- Bike ride begins
12:15 PM- Barbecue begins
12:15 PM- Activities for children
3:00 PM- Cleanup

** THIS IS A DRY EVENT**

* By train: Take the U2 to the station Kalbach (if leaving from downtown Frankfurt, take it north in the direction of Bad Homburg/Nieder-Eschbach/Gonzenheim). After getting off at the station, walk south towards the crosswalk and cross the street. There will be a little path, between the east side of the train tracks and a fence, that is a shortcut to the center. Essentially, then you can follow the signs to the Alter Flugplatz (or Feuerwehrmuseum).

IF YOU CAN TRY BEST TO ARRIVE BY 12:30 EXACTLY OR A BIT EARLIER, THEY GROUP WILL BE WAITING AT THE GATE. IT WILL BE MUCH EASIER TO FIND YOUR WAY IF YOU ENTER WITH THE GROUP.

**The edge of the center has a large sign that says "Diakonie," which is the organization the runs the center. Go down the alleyway by the sign until reaching the gate, and we should be waiting right there.

*By car: (or walking from the U-Bahn station) set GPS to “Parkplatz Alter Flugplatz,” which is where you will park your car, next to the refugee center. The refugee center is visible from the Parkplatz, and is several modern-looking two-story apartment buildings surrounded by a chain-link fence.

Thank you
Dana
