Between Protected content Protected content experienced a great economic boom. Roughly between the opening of the North sea channel and the New York stock exchange crash in Protected content .

The city doubled in size and cultural life reached a new zenith. Amsterdam made a spectacular transition from a sleepy, provincial town, towards a proud global player on many levels. Many of today's well known Dutch institutions and organizations saw the light during these optimistic years.

On this 2 hour city walk we focus on this so-called Second Golden Age. How did Amsterdam revive, who was involved, and what can we still recognize of those golden years today?

Along the way we introduce you to the key players and side figures in this success story: Johanna Borski, Samuel Sarphati, Oscar Carré, Jan Six, Hadjememaar, Jan Veth, Claude Monet, Rudolph Thorbecke, Austrian Empress Sisi and architect K.P.C. De Bazel.

As always we end with a 'gezellige' social drink afterwards. This time @ a unique location.

2.5 hrs tour with our guide + ONE typical Dutch liquor + ONE bitterbal (typical Dutch snack)

Limited places available - To ensure you attend you are requested to pre-pay euro 25.-
No refunds will be given in case of a cancellation unless you have found another person who will take in your spot.
