Philhellenic Music: Piano And Revolution
Works for solo piano by Greek and Philhellene composers
The uniqueness of the phenomenon, which we historically call the "Philhellenic Movement" lies in its great spread in all social strata, as well as in its all-round artistic expression, through the visual arts, music, literature, but also the field of popular and useful art object.
In the field of music, many composers, famous and insignificant, either inspired by Philhellenic poems or adapting others, served with their muse the Philhellenic Movement. The themes include frequent references and comparisons with ancient Greek glory, as well as the heroic resistance of struggling Greeks, men, women and children against the barbaric tyrant.
