Tate Britain's Great Art Walks - John Singer Sargent

Gus Casely-Hayford meets legendary photographer David Bailey to explore the world of Edwardian portrait painter John Singer Sargent. Gus and David will visit some of Britain's largest mansions, from Blenheim Palace to Ightham Mote, allowing us to take a look at the "foreign" painter who painted some of the most famous names of the Bell Epoque on canvas. Gus will go as far as Paris, where Sargent had an apprentiship and his career was in danger of a scandal. Gus secures unique access to the Louvre, where he discovers one of Sargent's early paintings, which hides a fascinating history of envy and deception.
We will watch a documentary Protected content that we can discuss afterwards.
