Most of the trail lies in the woods, so it's not too hot in the summer, and there are plenty of places to cool off in the stream. There is a vertical rock 20 meter high so we need to climb some metal stairs !

Bring the following non-negotiable
1. A backpack, hiking shoes
2. Lunch, clean clothes
3. 1 liter of water, easy card loaded $300 NT
4. Warm clothes

We will be back to Taipei at 19:00 by train

The Sandialing Waterfall walk links the tiny settlement of Sandialing with the larger villge of Shifen. Apart from the railway there is no other reasonably direct way between the two places as there is still no road through this section of the Keelung River valley. En routes the walk visits a trio of northern Taiwan's most beautiful waterfalls, including Sandialing waterfall itself, with its large overhand where hikers can stand behind the falling water.
