You won’t want to miss the 13th edition of Latin Wave at the MFAH, where the hottest new films from Latin America are featured along with opportunities to meet film-industry professionals! This year’s festival includes Colombia’s revenge drama Killing Jesús and comedy-drama Bad Lucky Goat; Cuba’s drama Sergio and Sergei; Mexico’s thriller The Night Guard; the Dominican Republic’s prison romance Woodpeckers; and Argentina’s historical drama from Lucrecia Martel, Zama.
Let's meet at 5:30 p.m. for the Latin Wave-infused Happy Hour to enjoy drinks, beats, and food-truck bites.

Then we'll head to watch the 7 p.m. Colombian movie: "Killing Jesús." I suggest you buy tickets to the movie beforehand.

Invited guest: director Laura Mora Ortega

About the movie:
Outside her Medellín home, 22-year-old Paula’s professor father is gunned down by a young assassin who Paula clearly sees. Out with friends at a nightclub, Paula is shocked to see her father’s killer across the dance floor. Paula learns his name, Jesús, and approaches him in hopes of seeking vengeance. Instead, an unlikely friendship develops between the two.

Laura Mora Ortega’s debut intermingles moments of anxiety and frustration by illustrating how Paula and Jesús are victims of a corrupt society, and how lives can fall apart in an instant.
