October: The revolution as seen by Shostakovich
Let's share a real "Bolshevik evening" evoking the centenary of the Russian Revolution at a unique evening of its kind, on the 25 October, the anniversary of the taking of the Winter Palace exactely one hundred years ago in Petrograd (modern day Saint Petersburg).
Music, poems, harangues mingled during a crushing uprising !!!
David Molard will direct more than a hundred musicians in two works that Shostakovich dedicated to the communist uprising:
- the symphonic poem "October", a lyrical exaltation of his patriotism which was commissioned for the fiftieth anniversary of the revolution;-
-and the symphony No. 12 "Year Protected content , which traces in music the greatest moments of the "dawn of humanity" ...
The Red Revolution will be heard not only by its notes but also by its words: between the musical phrases, speeches and poems will also resonate in a single impetus.
After the concert, those who wish to, will meet for a drink or light dinner nearby.
