Urban Planning in London, Cologne Perspectives on Work and City
How are we working today and tomorrow in our cities? This issue is devoted to the four-part series» Cologne perspectives on work and city «.» The city of Cologne invites renowned experts to talk together with their international partners to Cologne to spot on current strategies and projects of other European cities. The questions, how the various claims to work in a growing town get in line and what possibilities are in the focus.
Tim Rettler is principal regeneration officer at the greater London Authority and works there for more than 10 years in the fields of architecture, urban planning and upgrading of urban districts. He reports on the subject of "good growth" on the example of London's high streets and commercial areas with the background of a growing metropolis. In addition to the presentation of the economic, social and cultural challenges and potentials, he explains also experiences in the development of innovative approaches and programmes to revitalize the existing buildings and to design new infrastructures and mixed use models based on actual projects in greater London.
