Let's Celebrate with the Animals: 111 Years in Lindenthal - FREE
The Lindenthal Animal Park is nestled within Cologne’s beautiful city forest (‘Stadtwald') and is celebrating its 111th year anniversary this weekend!
As the animal park is mostly barrier-free (like a petting zoo for kids), you have the opportunity to get up close and hand-feed the animals. Some of them include deer, goats, sheep, donkeys and a range of birds. Check out this video for some nice impressions: Protected content The kibble to feed the animals (if you wish) can be purchased for 50 cents from vending machines located throughout the park.
If you’ve never visited this park before, then this is a great event, as it’s a jubilee celebration and I’m sure there’ll be more animals out and about than on regular days. There will also be a bird-of-prey show and free guided tours on offer (although I’m not sure yet of the specific times). NB: this is a family-friendly event, so expect lots of kids and kids activities!
Light refreshments will be available to purchase at the Tierpark, but I think instead, it might be nicer afterwards to go for a short walk around the Stadtwald and have a mini-picnic by the lake? I’ll pack a picnic blanket and some snacks. Please also bring some snacks to share if you like, and wear comfortable walking shoes. There’s also a hotel cafe in the area if we need coffee.
Hope you can make it... (and praying for nice weather!).
