Moon eclipse in the Vosges - Family activity
On July, 27th the longest moon eclipse of the 21st century will take place. And it is visible in Alsace.
We offer to go in the Vosges to watch it far away from city lights. The chosen place will also allow us to see :
- the sunset in the west with venus following it,
- the eclipsed moonrise in the east with mars at its side,
- jupiter sparkling plain south
- even saturn's rings with binocular Protected content magnification)
Before that, we will start with a visit of the house of Nature. It explains the ecosystem of the Vosges, the plants you can find and the animals living there. Then we will have a pic-nic while watching chamois eating and playing.
After the eclipse, I will stay and sleep in a tent with my sons to try to have a glance at the sunrise. There are also a lot of places to sleep (hotels, refuges...).
For those staying overnight, we can go to a lake the next day to rest, bath, play football, etc...
For sure, all this is theoretical and we can change to adapte to children. And single or couple can join even without children ;-)
The place to see the moon is about 1,5 km and Protected content height difference from the House of Nature.
This activity will take place in mountain. It may be cold, weather can change quickly, etc. Anyone is responsible for one's family.
If you need any more information, let me know and leave a comment if you need or propose car-sharing.
I am looking forward to seeing you there
