Ready to Join?

Dear all,

I would like to propose a hike to Kintoki-yama from which there should be fantastic views of Mt.Fuji. The total distance is around 12 kms with a height gain of around Protected content , for an estimated hiking time of around Protected content is for experienced hiker.

I would like to suggest that we use the event message board on Internations to post all offers and requests for transport, so that they are visible to everyone no matter when they join the hike, and that we then use Line to coordinate the details.

1. Timetable
We will meet at 9.10am in Protected content

Shinjuku Sta.6:21 〔Odakyu〕 Shin-Matsuda Sta.7:48
Matsuda Sta.8:04 〔JR〕 Gotenba Sta.8:46
Gotenba Sta.08:50〔Odakyu Hakone Kosoku Bus〕Otome Touge 09:05

2. Coordination
For the purpose of coordinating transport, arrival timings and other matters, I invite you to send a LINE message to me on ID yamayamtyan so that I can set up a group for the hike. We can also use the group to share photos after the hike.

3. Transport
I encourage everyone to odakyu train to Shin-Matsuda to the extent that they are able, and suggest that offers and requests for outdoor activities be posted on the Internations board, with later coordination directly by Line.

4. Clothing and equipment
The daytime temperature at the highest point just above Protected content should stay above 10 degrees, but it could be a bit windy and in the autumn temperatures can vary significantly, so warm waterproof clothing and strong waterproof boots are a must. Please also do not forget gloves(gunte) and a hat to protect you from the elements.

5. Food and drink
It is normal to underestimate the amount of water you will consume on a hike, and so I recommend bringing 1.5 litres each. Please bring a lunchbox and snacks, as we will not be stopping at any restaurants on the way.

6. Ability levels
We will hike on normal (yellow) and mountain (red) trails, but not on alpine (blue) trails. Within any group, there will be different ability levels, and in case of significant differences in pace, we will split into two groups walking at different speeds.

6. Costs
The costs will be getting between Shinjuku and Otome Touge via Shin-matsuda, Jizou-dou and Shinjuku via Shin-matsuda.

7. Cancellations
If your plans change and you realise you can no longer join the hike, please cancel your participation on the Internations site, as the number of participants is always capped and there may be other members who wish to join the hike in your place.

8. Weather
If weather conditions deteriorate to the extent that this hike becomes impractical, I will send a message to participants the previous day.

9. Responsibility
Please note that by signing up for this hike, you accept full personal responsibility for your own safety. The organisers of hikes are not trained guides, and often have not hiked the route before. Their only role is to coordinate the participants, the responsibility for safety continues to rest with each participant.

10. Mountain rescue
Please note that mountains are dangerous environments, and accidents will sometimes happen, whether or not these are within the control of the individual concerned. I encourage casualty insurance.
