Let's Dine and Watch a Polish Movie at the Open Air Theatre
Dear all,
Let's come together for dinner and later watching this Polish Movie at the Open Air Theatre in a lovely summer sunday evening. Adapted from Wladyslaw Reymont’s Nobel Prize-winning novel of the same name (Polish title: Chlopi), the film depicts a rural community, the life of ordinary peasants and the fate of Jagna, the most beautiful girl in the village. The events and the plot resonate with the life in the Ukrainian villages; the novel resembles Kaidasheva Simya by its atmosphere. The lifestyle of the period, mentality and folk ornaments create a strong foundation for the story that happened Protected content ago.
“It is not a story of suffering; it is a story of the power of love”
The Peasants uses an advanced oil painting animation technique employed for the Welchmans’ previous film Loving Vincent, and was nominated for an Oscar for best animated feature. The film, like Reymont's novel, is divided into four parts corresponding to each of the four seasons. It takes place at the turn of the twentieth century, over the course of one year, in the village of Lipce.
